THM Racing is delighted to have secured FIA World Rally star Robert Barrable to pilot its Golf GTI for the 2015 Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup Championship. After successfully competing in the FIA World Rally Championship with the Tunnocks World Rally Team, as well his successes in the Formula Ford series, Robert is back again with THM Racing, with whom he won at Donington in 2014’s final round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup.
Robert and THM Racing have had a very successful partnership to date and are looking to build on this further in 2015. “When we were looking at entering the Milltek Sport Volkswagen Racing Cup again, the decision for the race drive was easy. Our relationship with Robert is excellent and this is a great signing for the team,” commented Steve Parkinson, THM Racing’s racing director. “His performances speak for themselves and in driving terms, Robert’s determination, skill and technical knowledge are a great benefit to the team. When we work with Robert, he fits with our team perfectly and we like to think it works that well for him too, which makes a real difference in your competitiveness.”
Robert Barrable said: “It’s great and I’m so pleased to be competing again in the Volkswagen Racing Cup, especially with THM Racing. It is a fantastic team and I can’t wait to get going. Donington last September, where we had a great couple of races, winning one and finishing 7th in the other, was a great start. I’m really looking forward to it.”
About Robert Barrable
Robert started his motorsport car in his native Ireland in circuit racing – firstly in karts, before turning to single-seaters in Formula Ford and then saloon car racing with a season in the Ford Fiesta Trophy. He switched to rallying in 2010, and quickly began to follow in the footsteps of his father Michael by becoming a force to be reckoned with. Only a year after entering his first rally, Robert was crowned British and Irish Citroën C2 R2 champion.
Robert’s highlight of 2010 was being awarded the Billy Coleman Award – the most prestigious award bestowed upon young up-and-coming Irish rally drivers. Robert stepped up to S2000 machinery for 2011, contesting selected Irish, British and international events in an ex-works Skoda Fabia S2000. And in 2012 he contested selected rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge in a Skoda Ireland-backed Fabia S2000, finishing sixth on the high-speed Circuit of Ireland Rally. Robert made his FIA World Rally Championship debut in 2013 with the Tunnocks World Rally Team.
