Round 5/6 Silverstone 2014
Friday Testing
What a wash Out
A great days testing at Silverstone, despite fantastic thunderstorms, nothing dampened the day. The car looked great in its new livery, Rob was on form, 2 sessions cancelled due to tidal waves on track. The Team managed to get set up base in the dry late Thursday evening finishing at 11:30pm.
The weather reports showed that is was supposed to be dry in the afternoon ! until the heavens opened as soon as the track opened for business.
Looking forward to quali tomorrow, should be dry !
Qualifying
A Job Well Done.....
THMR's Robert Barrable qualified in P10 on the grid for tomorrows Race 1 at Silverstone.
The car handled well, with Robert stuck in amongst the pack chasing a good grid position for tomorrow’s race 1, which is forecast for wet conditions, which will suit him, as long as he gets a clear run of the start.
The long straights saw the golf GTI out run, the tech team will be looking closely at the data to ensure everything was as it should be.
With tomorrows Race 1 and Race two in the dry, changes to set up will be the order of the day. Good job there is time between race 1 and 2.
So, early start for Sunday, Race one at 9:20am, rain forecast, nothing here to dampen the THMR spirit, looking forward to the bumper to bumper action
Sunday - Race 1
THMR and Rob Barrable drive to a solid 8th place in Race 1
We are pleased with the result especially as the race conditions were wet; it’s another good start position in P8 on the grid for race 2 in the knowledge that an intermittent fault as been rectified.
After qualification four cars were taken for scrutineering checks with an announcement that two of the four were disqualified. As a result THMR moved up to 8th on the grid.
It was still drizzling for the start of Race 1, Robert made a good start working his way up to 4th through the tight pack. The rain stopped half way through lap 1.
With extremely close racing across the top 8 , an intermittent fault saw Rob Barrable slip back to 8th, the final finish position.
The outlook for race two was dry, the rain supposed to be petering out around 1pm in the afternoon.
Sunday Race 2
And …..That’s the way it goes
Unbelievable - THM Racing were all set to ensure Robert Barrable had all the tools in the box including the eradicated Race 1 sensor gremlin. The weather and track conditions were good, the race car was good to go, disaster struck on the warm up lap, the Golf snapped a drive shaft ! And it was the same drivers side as back in 2014 at Rockingham, …bitten twice ! and that was the end of the weekend for us .
So it’s back home, repair and regroup time.
